Key Purpose
Experienced insurance and claims professional to provide risk management leadership with principal responsibility for the insurance and claims program for a large, publicly traded facilities services company. This position has tactical and strategic oversight of general liability and automobile claims and provides strategic direction over all other claims, specifically including the workers compensation program, to reduce costs, facilitate service quality, and improve the workplace experience of our Placemakers. This position reports to the General Counsel & Head of Risk Management, and will liaise effectively with third -party professionals (attorneys, adjusters, brokers, TPAs, etc.), Legal, Enterprise Risk Management, Health, Safety, Environmental, & Quality (HSEQ), People & Culture (HR), and Leave of Absence (LOA) teams in supporting the ISS North America business.
Primary Responsibilities
Key leadership role within the Risk Management team entrusted to manage, develop, and continually improve all aspects of the insurance function within the risk management program. This role requires deep insurance industry experience, a creative mindset, legal knowledge, attention to detail, and big-picture thinking, with a focus on data analysis, excellent and proactive communication, and development of strategic and actionable advice for functional and business unit leaders.
This position leads a lean, but highly competent team of workers compensation claims professionals, and works closely with the assigned TPA, claims adjusters and outside defense counsels throughout US facilitate and manage litigated and non-litigated complex claims. Regarding the general liability and auto programs, this role requires management of claims, including oversight of our third-party administrator (TPA), actively managing and mitigating the cost of claims, ensuring claims adjusters are efficiently and effectively managing the claims, making settlement judgments within significant settlement authority, and assisting business leaders and functional teams.
Principal daily job responsibilities include:
- Attend to all aspects of the insurance program, with input and support from our broker, ensuring adequate and cost-effective coverage types and amounts.
- Provide strategic guidance and legal oversight to external counsel and adjusters to timely resolve claims in as cost effective a manner as possible.
- Review and approve claim reserves and reserve adjustments proposed by the assigned TPA claims adjuster.
- Competence with data analytics to use information to provide input on strategy and formulate programs based on claims and other trends in the business.
- Work closely with the General Counsel to return to work program and TPA to expedite the return to work of employees out on TTD (Temporary Total Disability).
- Coordinate and participate in regular claim reviews with outside defense counsel and adjusters/TPA as well as attend annual stewardship meetings.

Minimum Experience
- 5+ years insured litigation and/or insurance industry experience
- Seasoned leader, with demonstrated competence successfully managing people
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work remotely, with minimal supervision
- Detail oriented and a self-starter with strong organizational abilities
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize.
- Flexibility, accuracy, initiative and the ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to clearly communicate verbally and/or in writing both internally and externally
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- J.D. from accredited law school

The annual salary range for this position is $152000 per year - $180000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary from the above range.
