Job Description
Key Purpose
The EHS Specialist at ISS is responsible for deployment, implementation, monitoring, and coaching of core Technical Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and standards across the assigned site. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and site EHS regulations while providing technical support to various ISS functions. This position will maintain a close relationship with account and regional operational leadership in an effort to collaborate and identify best practices while ensuring ISS initiatives are communicated and carried out at the site level.

- Ensure timely completion of investigations, compliance obligations, and actions related to EHS measured through the safety management systems (SMS).
- Coach and develop associates within the assigned area/teams
- Record all injuries, incidents, and PSIFs and notating them in Velocity EHS/Beacon
- Maintain and update the OSHA 300/300A/301 Logs
- Give daily toolbox talks to hourly staff
- Effectively manage competing priorities from various stakeholders
- Help develop Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and review contractor JSAs
- Support in the development and presentation of relevant HSEQ training (ILT-Trained Trainer)
Key Areas of Collaboration and Influence
- Support the site, account, North Americas EHS team, Operation Performance teams, Legal and Risk Management team and People and Culture.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues within the Business Unit and across the company so that information is disseminated effectively and participate in project groups and meetings as required.
- Transfer best practice.
- Development of risk assessments identifying areas to mitigate risk for operational teams.
- Participation and integration into client EHS teams.
- Analysis, assessment, and execution of permits to work
- Assessment and analysis of fire system impairments
- Participation and leadership in problem solving projects to improve safety of ISS personnel on site.
- Promote and further develop ISS.
Ideal Candidate Experience
- 3-5 years of progressive EHS experience. Work experience within integrated facility services, manufacturing, and/or technology preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience with working in a team and solo environment.
- Strong planning, organization skills who works to complete tasks with a sense of urgency, ability to multi-task and follow projects/tasks through to completion.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong communications skills with the ability to communicate both with site workers and senior management comfortably.
- Ability to speak English fluently.
- OSHA 30 Hour General Industry Certification
- ISO 9001, 45001, 45001 experience is a plus.
- Degreed safety professional is optimal, but not necessary.
- Knowledge and experience in core technical EHS, programs such as Electrical Safety, Confined Space Entry, Lockout Tagout, Hazardous Waste Management, and Root Cause Investigation skills.
Key Accountabilities
- Facilitate the implementation of the ISS safety, health, and quality management systems.
- Generate monthly and quarterly KPI reports.
- Liaises and supports ISS third parties (i.e. Workers Compensation Board and Property Insurance Carriers) and develops responses to address identified concerns.
- Perform site level observations and risk assessments and develop recommendations for improvement.
- Perform PPE hazard assessments and develop recommendations for improvement.
- Lead incident investigations, guiding site staff in root cause analysis. Ensure corrective action recommendations are escalated for approval and implementation. Track corrective actions to ensure completion.
- Manage site level ISS activities impacting EHS regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prioritize and set clear goals when faced with conflicting demands and partners
- Develop, support, and implement strategies that integrate continuous improvement methodologies into ISS operations.
- Maintain accurate and organized occupational incident recordkeeping requirements.
- Collaborate with People & Culture and Operations regarding new hire safety orientation.
- Collaborate with operations, as directed, to ensure compliance with the HSEQ programs such as, but not limited to:
- Permit to Work (PTW)
- Lockout Tagout
- Audits and inspection
- Hazard communication
- Emergency Action Plan
- Quality Management
- Food Safety
- Subcontractor Management
- Oversee the utilization of HSE related software (i.e., Velocity EHS, Safety Skill, LMS etc.)
- Ensuring sites training requirements are met including reporting progress to management.
- Support the site’s efforts in the development of hazard assessments including job safety analysis, specific site, and client risk analysis.
- Participate in cross-regional ISO internal audits and gap closure.

- Must be able to work under pressure and time deadlines during peak periods

ISS offers full-time employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, as well as a comprehensive leave program based on employment status. The annual salary range for this position is $110000 per year - $125000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary from the range listed above.
