Key Purpose

 

The HSE Manager provides functional leadership in the development and implementation of processes to maintain and improve Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance, as well as work to create an overarching positive safety culture.

 

The successful candidate will create, implement and manage programs for the sites across the assigned area, with the objective of improving the Health, Safety and Environmental performance of the account. The HSE Manager partners with the North American ISS HSEQ Team, other support functions, Account Leadership, Site Line Management, Front Line personnel, client FMs and local leads in the execution of the ISS NA HSEQ program.

 

Success Criteria

 

  • Directly support compliance with applicable HSE statutory, regulatory and client requirements as part of the account HSEQ Team
  • Drive the account to attain assigned HSEQ performance targets, such as TRIR, LTIR, Training Completion and other goals assigned as part of the Company’s Safety Journey and SAFE Spaces initiatives.
  • Drive improved Environmental Sustainability performance across the account
  • Support continued certification in applicable ISO protocols.

 

Key Areas of Collaboration and Influence

 

  • Support the ISS North Americas Operations Performance team: the Key Account Director, Regional Area Managers, Facilities Management, and the ISS NA HSEQ team as a subject matter expert (SME) for matters of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues within the assigned area and across the company so that information is disseminated and the HSEQ program is supported effectively.
  • Participate in project groups, initiatives and meetings as required.
  • Collaborate with the North American HSEQ team in routine meetings, assignments, special initiatives and program execution.

 

Ideal Candidate Experience

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field ideal; equivalent work experience considered
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and other Health, Safety and Environmental regulatory standards, including but not limited to:
  • Control of Hazardous Energy
  • Hazard Communication
  • Fall Protection
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Machinery and Machine Guarding
  • Electrical Safety
  • Powered Platforms, Manlifts, and Vehicle-Mounted Work Platforms
  • Strong knowledge of Cal-OSHA regulatory standards preferred
  • 7+ years of experience delivering HSE programs and initiatives in large, industrial, or manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with large, service-driven, matrix organizational structures
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with team members and with customers at all levels of the organization
  • Strong, demonstrated experience with the writing, implementation and support of new HSEQ programs and procedures.
  • High level of organization and ability to prioritize tasks and issues
  • Ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams
  • Knowledgeable in ISO 14000 and ISO 45000 Environmental and Safety Management Systems
  • Industry recognized certification in safety - SGE, ASP, CSP, CHMM or CIH - and/or quality disciplines preferred

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Act as a strong safety advocate and influencer, collaborating with ISS and client employees at all levels to achieve positive cultural safety
  • Manage, develop, and implement HSE programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and HSE needs of the customer account
  • Enforce all regulatory, ISS and client requirements pertaining to HSEQ.
  • Monitor injury, illness, and incident related performance for trends; develop and implement strategic solutions that will improve performance result as required
  • Ensure facility HSE risk assessments, Inspections and audits are performed and track actions to closure
  • Support vendor/contractor HSEQ reviews to ensure vendors are properly qualified to perform requested tasks
  • Assist with the incident management process, including incident prevention and participating in the investigation and causal factor analysis
  • Facilitate investigation of ISO standard nonconformities and compliance gaps, and work with responsible partners in the development of appropriate Corrective And Preventative Actions (CAPAs)
  • Communicate all findings, concerns, and deficiencies in a respectful, partnering manner to responsible peers and customer stakeholders to effect timely and necessary corrections
  • Track and ensure the completion of required HSE training.
  • Maintain HSEQ KPI reporting as assigned
  • Perform internal audits of sites to ensure both client and ISS conformance
  • Drive inspection readiness across assigned locations, as needed, for regulatory inspections
  • Promote safety consciousness among employees by providing accurate and informative data, conducting safety meetings, giving timely feedback, safety suggestions, and visibly supporting the safety program

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment

 

  • Ability to travel, 25%-40%
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Extended periods of walking on premises during site visits
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, don and use safety equipment (PFAS, Respiratory protection, etc.) as needed
  • Must be able to work under pressure and time deadlines during peak periods
  • Willing to work occasional different shifts
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds

ISS offers full-time employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, as well as a comprehensive leave program based on employment status. The annual salary range for this position is $$111000.00  - $$134000.00 . Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary from the range listed above.
