Key Purpose

 The Multi-Site Health, Safety & Environmental Manager supports operations with carrying out the day to day on-site HSE activities 50/50 split at plant location(s) in Los Angeles and Thousand Oaks. Travel between sites may be required if need arises.

 

Success Criteria

  • Support operations with carrying out the day to day on-site HSE activities
  • Serve as part of the HSE team to ensure compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as part of the HSE team to review process to identify improvement opportunities for improved Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance along with a component of manufacturing safety management systems
  • Coach and develop associates within the assigned area/teams

 

Key Areas of Collaboration and Influence

  • Support the Americas Operations Performance team and Regional Manager, Facilities, and matrix report into the HSE Senior Manager
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues within the assigned area and across the company so that information is disseminated effectively and participate in project groups and meetings as required
  • Collaborate with HSE team and promote ISO programs standardization
  • Actively support the account/NAM HSE team as a subject matter expert (SME) in matters of health, safety, environmental compliance, GMP and pharmaceutical manufacturing safety

 

Ideal Candidate Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Occupational, Health & Safety or equivalent and a minimum of 5+ years of experience in an Environmental, Health and Safety position
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong technical writing ability
  • Able to manage competing priorities from various stakeholders
  • ISO 9001/14001/45001 experience a plus
  • Willing to work different shifts and travel up to 5% of the time to other locations for meetings, training, inspections, etc.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Establish a visible HSE presence at all locations. Act as an internal SME for all matters HSE at site.
  • Maintain positive and proactive relations with ISS and client employes, as well as regulatory agencies
  • Be a strong advocate and safety influencer, collaborating with ISS and client employees to achieve cultural change
  • Enforce all regulatory, ISS and client requirements
  • Support and/ or administer and maintain all compliance programs including LOTO, Hazard Communication, Emergency Action Plan, Hearing Conservation, Hot Work, Respiratory Protection, BBP, etc.,
  • Promote site-specific PTW process compliance, flow, and conduct approvals for applicable company self-perform/contracted work
  • Evaluate PPE required and ensure their proper use and maintenance
  • Oversee ISS involvement in on-site Hazardous Waste and Bio-medical waste transport & storage to designated holding areas and ensure in-scope regulatory agency compliance (currently tasked to customer HSE where applicable)
  • Ensure facility HSE risk assessments, Inspections and audits are performed and track actions to closure
  • Help develop Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and review contractor JHAs
  • Assist with the incident management process, including incident prevention and participating in the investigation and root cause analysis
  • Support in the development and presentation of relevant EQHS training (ILT-Trained Trainer)
  • Perform, or coordinate, the performance of trainings now completed by Takeda EHS or 3rd parties
  • Support FM in client Beacon system compliance obligation and CAPA execution/tracking
  • Participate in customer GEMBA walks and walk-down PTW/HRA tasks.
  • Observe company sub-contractor activities for compliance with safe work plans in place and proper behavioral safety
  • Ensure daily and monthly HSE Meetings/Trainings are conducted and scheduled as needed.
  • Participate in local client HSE and other applicable meetings
  • Write, implement, and manage site specific HSE Programs, Policies and Procedures; work with on-site QA manager to promote ISO 9001 continuous improvement and embedding of HSE practices in operational procedures
  • Support completion and maintenance of ISO 9001/45001/14001 requirements and ensure site specific ISO documents are complete, accurate, and maintained (audit readiness)
  • Prepare applicable site -specific HSE reports as necessary
  • Perform other work related tasks required as assigned


 Physical Demands & Work Environment

  •  Ability to travel, 10-25%
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Extended periods of walking on premises during site visits

Must be able to work under pressure and time deadlines during peak periods

The annual salary range for this position is $110000 per year - $130000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary from the range listed above.
