Key Purpose
The Senior Bid Manager role involves leading and managing the entire bid process, ensuring the development of high-quality, compelling, and competitive proposals that align with ISS’ strategic objectives. The role requires coordinating cross-functional teams, crafting persuasive narratives, and delivering client-focused solutions that maximize the likelihood of winning new business while adhering to regulatory and contractual requirements. The Senior Bid Manager will work closely with sales leads, high-level executives, and subject matter experts to assist in cultivating and nurturing relationships to achieve successful outcomes.
Success Criteria
- Develop and execute a client-focused win strategy that maximizes bid success.
- Produce clear, compliant, and compelling quality proposals tailored to the prospective clients’ needs.
- Effectively lead the bid process efficiently, ensuring timely delivery and optimal resource use.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive and competitive proposal responses.
- Identify and mitigate risk, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual requirements.
- Promote the OneISS model within the ISS community and with prospective clients.
Key Areas of Collaboration and Influence
- Support the Americas Commercial Excellence team, reporting to the Head of North America Bid Management, while driving strategic bid initiatives in alignment with company objectives.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues across the company so that information is disseminated effectively and actively participate in project groups and meetings as required.
- Engage technical and operational experts to gather critical content, insights, and data that strengthen the bid's value proposition.
- Take initiative in developing innovative solutions, ensuring proposals are competitive and tailored to prospective client’s needs, expectations, concerns, and desired outcomes, for persuasive bid writing.
- Lead impactful solution sessions across multi-disciplinary functions, which foster active participation and strategic influence to achieve successful winning bid outcomes.
Ideal Candidate Experience
- 10 years of experience with facilities management and/or food services and familiarity with industry terms, contracts, deliverables, and processes is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in related field (Business, Marketing, Engineering, etc.) preferred, other degrees such as Communication, Journalism, and English are acceptable
- 5+ years of bid management, business development, or marketing experience
- Experience editing, formatting, and writing proposals and presentations ideally with a focus in technical proposal writing in the facilities management and facilities services fields
- 3+ years’ experience with RFIs/RFPs
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Extensive working knowledge of document production using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; proficiency in Excel and SmartSheets
- Ability to work under pressure as part of a cohesive team
- Ability to work with electronic content delivery for response uploads (Ariba, Bravo Solutions, etc.)
- Strong and effective communication, writing, and computer skills are essential
Key Accountabilities
- Work collaboratively with a team of individuals to develop proposals and presentations from early conception to production and delivery
- Coordinate the proposal process, following standard procedures, including planning, review, and production of statements of qualifications and proposals
- Write responses to RFP questions, coordinating with subject matter experts as needed
- Weave win themes and value propositions throughout appropriate locations throughout the proposal
- Gather and research information to include in proposals, including resumes and project summaries
- Review, organize, and edit written documentation to improve clarity
- Provide final quality control check, including proofreading for grammar, request for proposal (RFP) compliance and conformance to established strategies and plans
- Ensure that complex technical solutions, strategies, and themes are easily understandable, readable, and compelling
- Participate in strategic planning that includes evaluating marketing intelligence, identifying customer concerns, and key issues, and developing win strategies
- Be a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks and possess strong organizational skills
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to work under pressure and time deadlines during peak periods.
ISS offers full time employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, as well as a comprehensive leave program based on employment status. The annual salary range for this position is $140000 per year - $150000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills, and may vary from the range listed above
